Riot Platforms (RIOT) has terminated its digital asset custody agreement with NYDIG Trust Company, transferring all previously custodied bitcoin to BitGo Bank & Trust. The termination occurred automatically on Oct. 29 after the asset migration was completed, per an SEC 8-K filing disclosed Nov. 4.
Under the original November 2023 agreement, NYDIG held Riot's bitcoin in cold storage and charged an annual fee based on the average daily USD value of custodied assets. Riot avoided any early termination penalty by completing the transition under a separate custody services agreement with BitGo, which was publicly disclosed on Oct. 14.
The custody shift coincides with Riot's release of third-quarter 2026 financial results on Nov. 4.
