UK fintech company Revolut is in active discussions with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to obtain a digital bank license in the Philippines. Lyn I. Javier, Deputy Governor of the BSP and head of its financial supervision sector, confirmed the talks, noting that Revolut must meet requirements for establishing a foreign bank institution in the country. The timeline for approval depends on the company's progress in compliance preparation.
Revolut currently holds bank licenses in the UK, Australia, Colombia, and France, and has secured conditional approval to establish a bank in the United States. The company also applied for a Swiss banking license in September.
