Pyth Network has announced significant infrastructure upgrades and a shift in its economic model. According to proposals OP-PIP-100 and OP-PIP-103, the current Pythnet will be phased out by 2026, transitioning to the next-generation Lazer platform. The OIS staking reward mechanism will be discontinued, although the security slashing mechanism will remain in place.
The PYTH Reserve has repurchased approximately 12 million PYTH tokens using protocol revenues. The network's growth will now be driven by commercial products like Pyth Pro and its data marketplace, which are already integrated with prediction markets such as Polymarket and Kalshi.
