A recent poll by the Heartland Institute and Rasmussen Reports indicates that young conservatives are more inclined than their liberal counterparts to support advanced AI taking over significant government roles. Conducted from October 31 to November 2, 2025, the survey involved 1,496 likely voters aged 18 to 39. It explored support for AI in public policy decisions, constitutional rights, and military command, aiming to reduce war-related deaths. The results showed conservatives leading in support across all areas, with a margin of error of three percentage points. Donald Kendall, director of the Heartland Institute’s Emerging Issues Center, highlighted the surprising ideological divide, attributing some conservative support to dissatisfaction with current institutions. This sentiment aligns with a 2025 Gallup poll showing only 15% approval of Congress. Kendall also warned against the misconception of AI as unbiased, noting the documented political biases in AI models and the growing societal reliance on these systems without fully understanding their risks.
