Privacy-focused cryptocurrency Pirate Chain has issued a mandatory update (v6.0.14) requiring all nodes, mining pools, and exchanges to immediately upgrade after a critical minting vulnerability was exploited on October 14.
Attackers leveraged two validation bugs in the transparent coinbase pool to mint approximately 39.82 million counterfeit ARRR tokens, temporarily inflating the circulating supply by roughly 20%. Both vulnerabilities have since been patched. Following consensus among the community, miners, exchanges, and dPoW notarization nodes, the blockchain was rolled back to block 4,176,944 — the last block before the attack. All forged tokens have been removed, balances restored to pre-attack states, and the maximum supply cap remains unchanged at 200 million ARRR.
The new release will automatically reindex the full chain upon first launch. A comprehensive technical post-mortem report is expected to be published shortly.
