Pipe Network has officially launched SolanaCDN, a free, open-source Solana validator client that significantly enhances shred propagation speed by 3.8 times through a global mesh network of over 35,000 nodes. This new client, built as a fork of Anza’s Agave client, integrates a CDN acceleration layer, allowing validators to achieve faster propagation independent of network geography, thus improving performance and rewards. SolanaCDN addresses the issue of geographic disparity in validator performance by providing a high-speed propagation path that operates alongside the native gossip protocol. This innovation results in a P50 latency of approximately 78 ms in cross-regional scenarios, compared to the standard 300 ms. The client includes several optimizations and is designed to be a plug-and-play replacement for existing validator clients, with all operations being non-blocking and fault-tolerant. The launch of SolanaCDN is expected to enhance the overall efficiency of the Solana network, reducing forks and slot loss rates. The source code is available on GitHub, and the client can be deployed on Solana mainnet-beta, offering a public infrastructure solution to the Solana ecosystem.
