Pipe, a decentralized content delivery network (CDN), has launched on the Solana mainnet, accompanied by the token generation event for its native PIPE token. The network utilizes Jito’s Node Consensus Network (NCN) for enhanced economic security, allowing it to restake existing SOL without operating its own validator set. During its testnet phase, Pipe delivered over 60 petabytes of data across approximately 290,000 points of presence (PoP) nodes, achieving around 70% lower latency and 100 times the cost efficiency of traditional CDNs.
Pipe aims to challenge established Web2 CDN providers like Cloudflare and Akamai by employing a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) model. This approach leverages underutilized node resources to increase capacity in regions with limited bandwidth. The project plans to expand its operations to South Korea, India, and Egypt, with a goal of reaching at least $100 million in annual recurring revenue by the end of 2025.
