Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a virtual currency investigation unit within the National Command and Control Centre (NC3) to combat money laundering and terrorist financing through virtual assets. This initiative will work in conjunction with the newly formed Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) to investigate criminal activities involving cryptocurrencies. The FIA's move includes integrating anti-money laundering efforts, border monitoring, and human trafficking investigations within NC3. The agency is also pushing for new regulations and expanding personnel to improve case processing times and enhance coordination among law enforcement agencies. Recommendations have been made for the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency and the Anti-Narcotics Force to establish similar units to address the use of crypto assets in cybercrime and drug trafficking.
