The National Cybersecurity Notification Center has reported that there are over 200,000 active OpenClaw instances worldwide, with approximately 23,000 located in China. These instances are predominantly found in internet-rich regions such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Sichuan, and Jiangsu. The proliferation of OpenClaw assets presents significant security risks, as they are vulnerable to cyberattacks due to their exposure on the internet. OpenClaw agents are particularly challenging to manage because of their tendency to lose control during instruction execution. This can lead to unauthorized actions, such as data deletion, information theft, and unauthorized control of user devices, potentially resulting in substantial economic losses. The explosive growth of these assets underscores the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity measures to mitigate associated risks.
