OpenReserve has completed a $25 million seed round led by a16z crypto, with participation from Jump Capital, Acrew, Coinbase Ventures, Clocktower, Quona, and AAF Management. The company said it is building an on-chain bank that "never closes." Its core ledger uses a programmable architecture similar to blockchain to support continuous settlement, instant fund transfers, and atomic transactions powered by stablecoins and tokenized deposits. OpenReserve also aims to provide on-chain credit through a regulated bank balance sheet. a16z crypto said internet-era demand has outgrown traditional banking back-end infrastructure, citing limits such as bank business hours and ACH and wire transfer settlement speeds.
