OpenAI is in early-stage acquisition discussions with software security firm Trail of Bits as the AI company seeks to build a cybersecurity business. The potential deal size remains undisclosed, according to sources familiar with the matter. New York-based Trail of Bits specializes in identifying and fixing vulnerabilities in open-source software and has conducted security audits for major crypto projects including Uniswap, Aave, and Worldcoin. The two companies previously collaborated in June to launch Patch the Planet, an open-source software security initiative.
