OpenAI has launched its "Education for Countries" initiative, partnering with eight nations to enhance educational outcomes through AI. The program, introduced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, includes Estonia, Greece, Italy, Slovakia, Trinidad and Tobago, Kazakhstan, the UAE, and Jordan. The initiative focuses on research-driven AI deployment, localized learning tools, and teacher empowerment.
Estonia has implemented ChatGPT Edu nationwide, impacting over 20,000 students and 4,600 teachers, while Jordan's AI assistant, Siraj, supports over 1 million students. Greece has initiated an AI startup accelerator, and Kazakhstan has trained over 84,000 educators in AI readiness. Singapore has also joined the initiative, collaborating with OpenAI to enhance personalized learning and teacher support. OpenAI plans to launch the "OpenAI Luminaries" program to further resource co-design and cross-border educational collaboration.
