OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has criticized Anthropic's marketing strategy for its new AI model, Claude Mythos, accusing the company of using "fear-based marketing" to promote the product. Speaking on the Core Memory podcast, Altman suggested that Anthropic's approach aims to concentrate AI control among a select few by emphasizing security concerns. He acknowledged the legitimate safety issues surrounding AI but argued that Anthropic's strategy is a marketing ploy designed to justify exclusive access. Claude Mythos, released by Anthropic last month, has drawn significant attention for its ability to autonomously identify software vulnerabilities and conduct complex cyber operations. The model is currently available only to a limited number of organizations, including Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft, through the "Glasswing Project." While Anthropic highlights the model's defensive capabilities, security experts warn of its potential misuse. Altman believes that while discussions about dangerous AI systems will increase, not all claims should be taken seriously, and he advocates for broader accessibility of AI technology.
