OpenAI supports a key provision in the bipartisan House FRONTIER Act that would require leading artificial intelligence companies to allow external evaluators to assess model safety. OpenAI global affairs chief Chris Lehane said the company supports the bill’s independent validation organization framework after meeting with one of the proposal’s sponsors on Capitol Hill. The bill, introduced by House Republican Jay Obernolte and Democrat Lori Trahan, aims to create the first federal artificial intelligence safety framework.
