Ondo Finance has partnered with Franklin Templeton to tokenize five of the asset manager's exchange-traded funds (ETFs), marking the first time Templeton-managed ETFs are available on-chain. This collaboration extends Franklin Templeton's blockchain footprint beyond its tokenized money market fund. The tokenized ETFs include the Franklin Focused Growth ETF, Franklin U.S. Large Cap Multifactor Index ETF, Franklin Responsibly Sourced Gold ETF, Franklin High Yield Corporate ETF, and Franklin Income Equity Focus ETF. These products will be available through Ondo’s Global Markets platform, initially targeting regions outside the U.S.
Under the agreement, Franklin Templeton will manage the underlying ETFs while Ondo provides the tokenization infrastructure. Ondo will issue blockchain-based tokens representing the economic exposure of the ETFs, enabling DeFi use cases like on-chain collateralization. The tokenized ETFs will be accessible without a brokerage account, appealing to crypto-native investors. Ondo's market makers will support liquidity, allowing 24/7 trading. This partnership signifies a significant expansion for Ondo Global Markets, which has grown to become the largest tokenized securities platform by TVL, with over $700 million locked.
