Crypto exchange OKX has been fined €2.25 million ($2.6 million) by the Dutch Central Bank for operating without registration in the Netherlands. The penalty covers activities from July 2023 to August 2024, prior to the implementation of the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Directive (MiCA). OKX has since addressed the issue by migrating Dutch users to a fully licensed MiCA entity. The company emphasized that the fine, the lowest ever for a major exchange by the Dutch Central Bank, does not affect its customers.
