The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) aimed at implementing the GENIUS Act. This proposal seeks public input on rules applicable to licensed payment stablecoin issuers under OCC jurisdiction, foreign payment stablecoin issuers, and certain custodial activities conducted by OCC-regulated entities. The OCC also noted that accompanying rules related to the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) and OFAC sanctions will be developed in coordination with the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
