Obyte has celebrated its ninth anniversary by implementing full on-chain governance and introducing new DeFi tools. As of December 25, 2025, GBYTE token holders can participate in voting on platform upgrades and selecting Order Providers, with CariPower being the first elected provider. Earlier this year, in June, Obyte launched Obyte City, a virtual environment for purchasing and developing digital plots, enhancing its ecosystem. The platform also features Obyte Friends, a social rewards system, and plans to introduce new DeFi applications and sidechains in 2026, marking a significant step in its crypto-focused evolution.
