The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has announced plans to develop a tokenized securities trading and on-chain settlement platform, pending regulatory approval. This platform aims to facilitate 24/7 trading of U.S. stocks and ETFs, fractional share trading, stablecoin-based settlements, and instant delivery. It will integrate NYSE's existing matching engine with a blockchain settlement system. Tokenized stocks will offer the same dividends and governance rights as traditional securities. Additionally, NYSE's parent company, ICE, is collaborating with banks like BNY Mellon and Citibank to explore tokenized deposits and clearing infrastructure for cross-time-zone, round-the-clock fund and margin management.
