Adrienne Harris, head of the New York Department of Financial Services, has expressed interest in a cryptocurrency passporting program between the US and UK. This follows the establishment of the "Future Markets" task force by US and UK finance officials, aimed at enhancing regulatory cooperation. Harris highlighted the borderless nature of the crypto market and the need for unified global standards. The task force, which includes finance ministry officials and industry executives, is expected to deliver a report within 180 days. The proposed passporting program would allow crypto companies licensed in one country to operate in the other without undergoing a full authorization process. This initiative is seen as a way to improve investor protection, reduce compliance costs, and promote market interoperability. The UK Cryptoasset Business Council supports the idea, emphasizing the benefits of coordinated regulation.
