Nvidia has instructed its data center partners to reduce business dealings with Chinese customers, according to a Financial Times report citing five sources. The chip giant requires cloud computing clients to sell at least 51% of their services to non-Chinese enterprises. The new policy applies only to future contracts and does not affect existing agreements.
Nvidia neither confirmed nor denied the report but stated in a declaration that data centers and cloud services built with US chips form the foundation for American model and application developers competing globally. China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said she was unaware of the situation, expressing hope that all parties would provide a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for companies from all countries, including Chinese firms.
