Nvidia has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.9303 billion, with CEO Jensen Huang saying the deal will expand the platform’s scale, strengthen its infrastructure, and broaden access to AI capabilities for developers and institutions worldwide.
Hugging Face will continue to operate as an open platform for the AI ecosystem, allowing developers to choose their preferred models, frameworks, cloud services, inference providers, and computing platforms. Nvidia said using Hugging Face for development or deployment will not require Nvidia computing resources. The company also said an equity retention plan for Hugging Face employees joining Nvidia is worth up to $1 billion.
The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
