Pablo Sabbatella, founder of Web3 audit firm opsek and member of the Security Alliance (SEAL), has issued a stark warning about North Korea's infiltration of the cryptocurrency industry. According to Sabbatella, between 15% and 20% of crypto companies have been penetrated by North Korean operatives. He highlighted that 30% to 40% of job applications received by the crypto sector are from North Korean agents, who use outsourcing platforms to apply under false identities and remotely control computers to assume U.S. identities. Sabbatella criticized the operational security (OPSEC) within the crypto industry, labeling it as the worst in the entire computer sector. He noted that founders and teams are particularly vulnerable to social engineering and malware attacks, underscoring the urgent need for improved security measures.
