NEAR Protocol has released its mainnet version 2.13.0, introducing significant advancements including a post-quantum transaction signature scheme and dynamic sharding. The update, announced by NEAR Chain Status, will undergo a voting process starting at 8:00 AM Beijing time on July 20. The upgrade incorporates the ML-DSA-65 post-quantum signature, making it the third key type alongside ed25519 and secp256k1. This enhancement allows accounts to hold keys resistant to quantum computer forgeries, with only a 32-byte hash recorded on-chain. Additionally, dynamic sharding enables automatic monitoring and adjustment of shard states without requiring protocol upgrades or manual intervention. The update also introduces Gas Keys, facilitating the proxy economy by allowing a single account to manage multiple proxies and transactions simultaneously without nonce conflicts.
