Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) has announced plans to establish an AI-powered digital bank in Japan by fiscal 2026. The initiative, in collaboration with Sakana AI and LayerX, will utilize Google Cloud infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience through advanced AI integration. As part of this strategic move, MUFG will acquire a 5% equity stake in LayerX and maintain long-term partnerships with AI firms, aligning with its medium-term management plan.
