The Motion Picture Association of America (MPA) has condemned ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 for large-scale copyright infringement, citing its unauthorized use of U.S. film and television content. Launched recently, the AI video generation service has been criticized for lacking effective copyright protection measures. The MPA has demanded an immediate halt to Seedance's activities, echoing previous actions taken against OpenAI's Sora 2. Seedance 2.0 has reportedly generated numerous videos featuring copyrighted content from popular films and series such as "Spider-Man," "Titanic," and "Stranger Things." In response, Disney has issued a cease and desist letter, while other organizations, including SAG-AFTRA and the Copyright Alliance, have also condemned the service. Legal actions, including takedown notices and lawsuits, are being considered by copyright holders.
