Mistral AI has announced an $830 million debt financing deal to construct its first dedicated data center near Paris and explore custom chip designs. The facility in Bruyères-le-Châtel will house 13,800 Nvidia GB300 GPUs, providing 44 megawatts of compute capacity, with operations set to begin in Q2 2026. This move is part of Mistral's strategy to achieve 200 megawatts of AI compute capacity across Europe by 2027.
The financing, backed by a consortium of banks, allows Mistral to maintain shareholder equity while expanding its infrastructure. Additionally, Mistral unveiled Vibe, an enterprise AI platform designed to integrate with existing workflows, targeting European industries seeking alternatives to American cloud services. This initiative aligns with France's goal of establishing a sovereign AI ecosystem, supported by partnerships with Nvidia and Bpifrance.
