The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released a set of "six dos and six don'ts" to mitigate security risks associated with the OpenClaw ("Lobster") open-source intelligence platform. This initiative, reported by PANews on March 11, aims to address vulnerabilities in financial transaction scenarios, which are particularly susceptible to erroneous transactions and account hijacking.
The guidelines, developed in collaboration with cybersecurity firms and platform operators, emphasize network isolation, least privilege access, and the closure of unnecessary internet ports. They also recommend manual review processes, circuit breaker mechanisms, and secondary confirmations for critical operations. Additionally, the guidelines call for rigorous supply chain audits, the use of official components, regular vulnerability patching, and comprehensive security monitoring to swiftly identify and mitigate risks.
