Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman predicted that AI could reach human-level performance across most or all professional tasks within the next 12 to 18 months, with many computer-based work tasks potentially becoming fully automated. Suleyman said affected areas could include accounting, law, marketing and project management. He expects continued exponential growth in computing power to improve AI models’ coding and professional-task capabilities, while enabling companies to customize specialized AI models for their own needs. Current AI use in professional services such as law, accounting and auditing remains largely focused on document review and routine analysis, with limited measurable productivity gains and job replacement so far.
