Michael Saylor, founder of Strategy, has outlined a five-layer architecture for the modern digital asset stack on the X platform. The layers include digital capital (BTC), digital credit (Bitcoin-backed yield tools), digital currency (stable value yield tools), digital yield (leveraged or structured products), and digital equity (MSTR-style residual equity). Saylor emphasizes that Bitcoin itself does not need to generate yield, nor require staking, inflation, or protocol changes. Instead, yield should be created through capital structures built on top of Bitcoin.
The digital currency layer combines digital credit with fiat cash equivalents to form stable value, daily liquid, and yield-generating tools, targeting a 6-8% yield. This architecture does not alter Bitcoin's underlying structure or weaken its core principles but aims to expand Bitcoin from a single asset into a global financial infrastructure through capital markets.
