Michael S. Selig has been sworn in as the 16th Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on December 22, following the departure of Acting Chair Caroline D. Pham. Selig was nominated by Trump on October 27, 2025. He previously served as the Chief Legal Advisor for the SEC Crypto Task Force and as a Senior Advisor to SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins. Selig has been instrumental in advancing the regulatory framework for digital asset securities markets and has advocated for ending the practice of regulation through enforcement.
