The mETH Protocol has announced a phased discontinuation of its liquid staking token, cmETH, to realign with its long-term strategic goals. Despite the shutdown, all other mETH Protocol products will remain operational. cmETH holders can still redeem and perform cross-chain operations, while mETH stakers are not required to take any action. Since its inception, cmETH has become a prominent liquid restaking token, reaching a peak total value locked (TVL) of $620 million. However, after reassessing the re-staking landscape, the team decided to cease cmETH operations. As of May 7, 2026, cmETH minting has been disabled, with the final EigenLayer reward distribution scheduled for mid-June 2026. The reward claiming window for historical cmETH events will close on November 7, 2026.
