Metaplanet's Head of Bitcoin Strategy, Dylan LeClair, has called for global community signatures against a Japan Exchange Group (JPX) proposal to exclude companies with over 50% of assets in cryptocurrency from the Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX). Speaking at the Bitcoin 2026 conference, LeClair highlighted the potential impact on companies like Metaplanet, Remixpoint, and ANAP Holdings, which are slated for inclusion in the index by October 2026. The public comment period for this proposal ends on May 7. LeClair remains optimistic about Japan's pro-bitcoin regulatory stance and the proposal's outcome. This follows a similar decision by MSCI in February 2026, where it chose not to exclude digital asset reserve companies from its Global Investable Market Index.
