MetaMask has integrated native support for Bitcoin, marking a significant step in its multi-chain development strategy. Users of the Ethereum wallet can now purchase Bitcoin with fiat, perform on-chain transfers, and exchange EVM assets and SOL for Bitcoin. Initially, the wallet supports Segregated Witness (SegWit) addresses, with plans to include Taproot addresses soon. Additionally, users exchanging Bitcoin on MetaMask will earn reward points, as announced on Monday. ConsenSys CEO Joseph Lubin has indicated ongoing efforts to issue the MASK token, though no release date has been set.
