Meta, in collaboration with CBRE, has introduced the LevelUp Fiber Technician Pathway, a free four-week training program for U.S. residents. This initiative aims to address the shortage of fiber technicians needed for Meta's data center construction and operations. The program, managed by CBRE, will commence its first cohort this summer, offering classroom discussions, hands-on labs, and team exercises. Graduates will have the opportunity to work at Meta's U.S. construction sites through its contractor network.
Meta currently operates or is constructing 27 data centers in the U.S., which have created over 30,000 construction-era technician positions and more than 5,000 permanent roles since 2010. This training program is part of Meta's strategy to ensure a steady workforce for its expanding data center projects amid a nationwide shortage of fiber technicians and construction workers.
