Meta AI and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) have revised their joint paper on "Neural Computers," initially published on April 7. The paper introduced the concept of a "Neural Computer" (NC), a model integrating computation, storage, and input/output without relying on external programs. The revised version, released on April 16, does not include new experiments but significantly softens the language in the abstract. Key changes in the updated version include the removal of the statement "NCs aim to make the model itself the running computer" and the alteration of terms such as "early NC primitives" to "elementary NC primitives." The authors have shifted the focus from positioning NCs as a direct alternative to traditional computing models to presenting them as an emerging paradigm with ongoing challenges. This repositioning reflects a more cautious approach to the paper's claims while maintaining the original experimental framework.
