The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources revealed in a parliamentary response that 13,827 locations were found to have illegally modified or bypassed electricity meters for mining purposes. Although Malaysia lacks specific legislation targeting crypto mining, such activities contravene the Electricity Supply Act.
