Malaysia has announced a $142 million investment in a super magnet facility in Pahang, aimed at enhancing the country's rare earth processing capabilities. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed that the project is a joint venture between Lynas Rare Earths and JS Link, set to produce 3,000 tonnes of neodymium magnets annually. This initiative supports sectors such as electric vehicles, semiconductors, and defense technologies. The facility will be strategically located near Lynas' existing plant in Kuantan, aiming to reduce Malaysia's reliance on rare earth imports and bolster domestic manufacturing. With 16.1 million metric tons of rare earth deposits, Malaysia seeks to develop its refining infrastructure through this partnership.
