The Digital Currency Operations Management Center has announced that several major Chinese banks, including the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of Communications, Postal Savings Bank of China, and Industrial Bank, have integrated the offline payment code function into the digital renminbi app. This feature allows users to generate a payment code in environments with no or weak network connectivity, enabling seamless transactions.
The offline payment code function automatically activates when connectivity issues arise, requiring no manual intervention. Users must have the small-amount password-free payment feature enabled to utilize this service. Additionally, activating the pay-as-you-go top-up function ensures transactions can proceed even if the account balance is low. This development is part of a broader rollout to extend the feature to more financial institutions.
