Madagascar's Ministry of Justice confirmed the extradition of 148 Chinese nationals suspected of involvement in romance, cryptocurrency, and fake investment fraud schemes within the East African country. The move follows a series of raids conducted between August and September that dismantled 13 scam compounds operated by Chinese nationals.
During the operations, authorities seized up to $52 million in cryptocurrency and more than 3,200 electronic devices in a single day. The extraditions mark a significant enforcement action against cross-border digital fraud networks operating in Madagascar.
