Valour, a subsidiary of DeFi Technologies, has launched a Bitcoin staking exchange-traded product (ETP) on the London Stock Exchange, offering a 1.4% annual yield. This ETP, backed by Bitcoin held in cold storage and secured through multiparty computation technology, is currently available to institutional and professional investors. The UK plans to lift its ban on retail crypto exchange-traded notes on October 8, 2025.
The introduction of this ETP comes as the UK seeks to ease restrictions on digital assets, with recent reports indicating increased cooperation with the US on digital asset innovation. Shares of DeFi Technologies rose 5% following the announcement. The demand for yield-bearing Bitcoin strategies is growing, as firms look for liquidity options without selling their BTC holdings.
