Liquid Network has released emergency version Elements v23.3.4 to address a previously identified vulnerability in the Range Proof verification cache. Functionary nodes have begun upgrading, and all Liquid node operators are advised to install the update. The release strengthens the cache key used for Range Proofs and has undergone multiple internal and external reviews, including by Bitcoin Red Team and Alpen Labs.
Blockstream is still developing a three-stage network recovery plan: resume block production while keeping Peg operations suspended; replay verified valid transactions; and restore Peg operations after the network is fully recovered and fund returns are confirmed. The first two stages are being tested in parallel and will proceed only after security checks are completed.
