The Linea Consortium has joined the Linux Foundation's Decentralized Trust (LFDT) as a premier member, contributing its zero-knowledge (ZK) Rollup technology stack to the open-source community. This initiative, named Lineth, aims to place Linea's core Layer 2 technology under the LFDT's open governance framework, moving away from single-company control. Despite this contribution, the Linea network itself remains centralized, with key components like the sequencer and prover still managed by the team. Declan Fox, a Linea Alliance board member, will join the LFDT Governance Committee, alongside representatives from Consensys and other organizations. The Linea Consortium, a nonprofit guiding the ecosystem's growth, emphasizes that this move is a step towards decentralization, providing a neutral platform for its technology. However, the network's mainnet beta continues to rely on centralized elements, as highlighted by L2Beat's classification of Linea as a Stage 0 Rollup, indicating significant reliance on trusted operators.
