Ledger's security team, Donjon, has identified a critical vulnerability in the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip that could compromise crypto wallet security. The flaw allows attackers with physical access to extract encryption keys via USB before the operating system loads, potentially exposing wallet recovery phrases in under a minute. This vulnerability affects wallet applications like Trust Wallet, Kraken Wallet, and Phantom, and may impact around 25% of Android devices using MediaTek chips. Ledger's CTO, Charles Guillemet, emphasized the risks of storing keys on non-secure devices and urged users to apply security updates promptly.
