Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet has issued a warning about the potential threat posed by future quantum computers to Bitcoin's cryptographic security. He emphasized the need for the Bitcoin community to proactively plan for quantum-resistant upgrades, as advancements in quantum computing could eventually compromise private keys. Guillemet also pointed out the challenges involved in transitioning to post-quantum cryptography, such as ensuring compatibility with existing systems. This concern is echoed by other industry leaders, including Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko and Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, who have also highlighted the risks associated with quantum computing.
