Charles Gerstein, the lead attorney in the Arbitrum crypto asset seizure case, has filed a motion with the Manhattan federal court in New York, requesting an order for Tether to release approximately $344 million in frozen USDT. These funds are intended to satisfy unpaid terrorism judgments held by victims. The USDT in question is located in two Tron wallet addresses designated by the U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as belonging to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Tether had previously frozen these tokens. Gerstein argues that Tether can freeze the original tokens and reissue an equivalent amount of USDT to a wallet controlled by the plaintiffs' attorneys.
