African fintech firm Kredete has successfully closed a $22 million Series A funding round, spearheaded by AfricInvest through its Cathay AfricInvest Innovation Fund and Financial Inclusion Vehicles. The round also saw participation from Partech and Polymorphic Capital, bringing Kredete's total funding to $24.75 million. Kredete aims to enhance credit histories for African immigrants using stablecoin payments and credit-building services, with expansion plans targeting Canada, the UK, and Europe.
The company is set to introduce new features, including Africa's first stablecoin credit card, rental credit reports, and credit savings plans. Additionally, Kredete plans to develop a bank and wallet aggregation API to support secure, low-cost cross-border payments across 41 countries. Currently, Kredete boasts over 700,000 monthly active users, has facilitated $500 million in remittances, and improved users' US credit scores by an average of 58 points.
