Kookmin Bank of Korea has issued $100 million in blockchain digital bonds, marking a first for a Korean bank. The issuance was conducted through HSBC's digital asset platform, Orion, and will be integrated into the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Central Depository & Clearing Corporation. This move is part of KB Financial Group's strategy to accelerate digital transformation, leveraging the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's digital bond subsidy scheme to reduce issuance costs.
