JPMorgan Chase is expanding the digital assets and blockchain specialist team within its Chase retail banking division as it explores new crypto-related products, partnerships, and strategy for individual and small and medium-sized enterprise customers. The team is tasked with shaping digital asset strategy, building partnerships with cryptocurrency companies, and developing new offerings.
The bank is also evaluating independent research and development, external partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions. Team member Sameer Kumar said he has joined the division. Earlier this year, JPMorgan said blockchain and stablecoins could eventually be applied to personal finance, though it noted such adoption would be difficult to achieve in the short term. The bank already serves corporate clients through its Kinexys blockchain business and JPM Coin tokenized deposits.
