Italian authorities are investigating a government email breach linked to a leak of Revolut customer data, with hackers allegedly using compromised accounts to obtain sensitive customer information. Cybercrime police opened a probe into suspected unauthorized access to computer systems and computer fraud. Some media reports said the compromised account belonged to the provincial government of Reggio Calabria, which denied sending any request to Revolut. Revolut declined to identify the government agency involved but said it reported the matter to Italian authorities and will assist the investigation. The company said its systems, databases and customer funds remain secure.
